About Us
British Columbia Milk Producers Association (BCMPA) is the voice of all dairy farmers in British Columbia, since it was founded in 1936 under the name of BC Federation of Agriculture. We are advocates with governments, the media, special interest groups and environmentalists, and other industry associations. Our purpose is to advance the legitimate business interest of this province’s dairy farmers and promote a vibrant, sustainable industry which supplies high quality dairy products to the consumer.
We represent over 640 commercial dairy producers who milk 75,000 cows daily. Delegates from BC’s eight regions are appointed to serve on the BCMPA board of directors on three-year terms. As the umbrella organization, it is the BCMPA’s role to represent all regions provincially and federally.
We support and work closely with the Dairy Farmers of Canada through the six BCMPA delegates nominated to represent BC’s interest at their Annual General Meeting and Policy Conference. Dairy Farmers of Canada is the group that deals with national dairy issues including policy, lobbying and trade, and market development for industrial products.
In this province, BC Milk Producers Association works closely with BC Dairy Foundation who deal with fluid milk promotion and nutrition issues. We support the BC Agriculture Council and the Canadian Federation of Agriculture as well as provide representatives to over 35 groups, committees and boards throughout the agriculture industry.
