Anaerobic digestion is a naturally occurring biological process involving the decomposition of organic matter in the absence of oxygen. The process is essentially the same as composting, except that it occurs in anaerobic digesters that prevent oxygen from entering the system.

BC Milk Producers Association is a strong advocate of environmentally sustainable practices. We are co-founders of the Anerobic Digestion Industry Advisory Committee (ADIAC) which is an industry-government-agency group for on-farm anaerobic digestion in BC. ADIAC facilitates and assists anaerobic digestion proponents take their project from concept to reality. It also functions as a discussion forum, facilitating the exchange of AD-related information among its representatives, and works towards streamlining processes pertinent to the development of an AD industry in British Columbia.
